East Devon Folk choir meets weekly on Wednesdays during term time.
Since 2012 this choir has welcomed members young and old from across the area. Members have various levels of prior musical experience, from those who never believed they could be a singer, to those who’ve been regular folk clubs goers.
Each session starts with a gentle warm up for the body, breath and voice. You’ll learn to control your breath, extend your vocal range and develop your singing technique. You’ll learn short songs as well as exciting harmonic arrangements which we develop week on week. You’ll learn songs by ear but lyric sheets and musical scores are available. We have a short break during the session where you can have a cup of tea and chat with fellow members. Choir members are invited to perform with the group at their earliest opportunity, but there is never any obligation to take part in public events.
Location: TBC from September 2021.
Time: TBC from September 2021. Usually Wednesdays, 7.00-9.00pm. See the current term dates.
Music Leader: Sarah Owen
When you join your group you’ll get online access to musical scores, lyrics and audio guides related to each in-person session. So you won’t miss out if you can’t attend every week.
Term fees are payable in advance online. Subsidised rates are available for full-time students and people in receipt of Universal Credit.
If it is difficult for you to pay by these methods please don’t hesitate to contact us. We can discuss alternative arrangements to help you be part of the group no matter what your circumstances. We also support people who are not online or may not have an email address, and will offer an alternative way to join the group and access materials.
If the half term is already well underway, contact us for a reduced price on the full half term fee. You’ll receive the online materials for any previous weeks of the half term.
The easiest way to join now is through the Wren Community page.
