Maz had a musical upbringing in Devon and began performing and writing songs at the age of 9. By 14, she had launched into the industry as a recording and touring singer-songwriter. Since then, she has played in several genre-spanning music projects, toured the UK festival circuit, received national airplay on BBC Radio, and performed both solo and with bands in Brazil, Cambodia, and Portugal. Her primary instruments are voice, guitar, and flute, and she holds a particular fondness for the Indian harmonium.
She graduated from BIMM Bristol in 2020 with a BA (Hons) in Songwriting and has since built a diverse, patchwork career in the arts—mainly across the South West—as a musician, community music and arts facilitator for all ages, and a circus and street theatre performer. In addition to performing various circus disciplines herself, she has worked as a musical director for circus productions and as a musician with Footsbarn Theatre in France, joining them on a recent international tour of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.
Maz joined the Wren Music team in 2024. When she’s not working as a music leader, she might be entertaining families with fire juggling, creating folkloric theatre with traditional songs about trees as part of the Hedgesong Collective, or writing poetry on her typewriter in the woods.
