Laura has been our freelance media & comms writer for several years now, providing articles for our website and content for our social media channels, as well as ‘getting our stories out there’ by writing pieces for the news media about the work that we do.
She brings a wealth of experience, having worked as a journalist all her life, previously with the regional daily newspaper, the Western Morning News, and, for almost 14 years with BBC South West. At the BBC Devon website, she was part of the small team which was instrumental in the creation of the now famous Devon Flag.
She left the BBC in 2011 to set up her own freelance writing & PR business.
Outside of work, she’s a Torquay United FC supporter (she wrote the first ever book about the history of the club!) and a member of Somerset County Cricket Club. Musically, she’ll listen to almost anything. The first single she ever bought was I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing by the New Seekers (and yes, she’s still a fan), and her favourite song of all time is The Only Living Boy in New York by Simon & Garfunkel.
