Wren to host Inclusive Ceilidhs Conference

8 October 2025

Following the success of our Inclusive Ceilidhs project, we’re delighted to present an all-day event at Exeter Phoenix to share a ‘tool kit’ and to hear from others nationally and internationally.

Inclusive Ceilidhs: Folk Dance Without Barriers is at the Exeter Phoenix venue on Friday 31 October, from 10.30am to 3pm and is for all those interested in celebrating diversity and folk dance.

It’s a chance to meet the Wren Music team who’ve delivered the project, including members of the specially created band and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) support group who’ve used the lessons learned through the project to embed diversity throughout the organisation.

We’re excited to announce that there’ll also be presentations from leaders in the inclusive ceilidh movement in England, and an opportunity to hear about developments in social folk dance in both Newfoundland and Latvia. And yes, there’ll also be time for some dancing!

During the day, we’ll be showcasing our tool kit for inclusive ceilidhs that has been developed over five ceilidhs this summer and autumn, and there’ll be a panel discussion about why we believe this work to be so important.

A buffet lunch is included. The event is free to attend but donations are welcomed.

The Inclusive Ceilidh project is supported by Arts Council England National Lottery Projects, with outreach work supported by The Clare Milne Trust.
