Our very own Paul Wilson will be joined by Devon fiddler Ben van Weede to present an event in three parts.
The evening starts with a short presentation from Paul about William Andrews, the traditional fiddle player from Sheepstor who played to song & tune collector Rev Sabine Baring-Gould in the 1890s. Paul and Ben will then play a few of the tunes arranged for fiddle, guitar and other instruments, showing how the William Andrews tunes relate to others from the region. Finally, there is a participatory workshop, where players can learn a lesser-known local Dartmoor tune or two to add to their repertoire. Bring your own instrument.
The event is part of the Baring-Gould Centenary Programme, marking the 100th year of his death. It is presented by Wren Music in partnership with the Devonshire Association’s Music and Folklore Section.
