Wear sturdy shoes and wrap up warm. \nSaturday 14 January from 4.30pm\nOkehampton Community Garden\, Okehampton \nAt each Wassail we will congregate around a small number of  trees\, and at each one sing a couple of wassail songs. We will give three cheers and then anoint the tree roots and dress the tree with toast. After the ceremony there will be the chance to sing more wassail songs\, and light refreshments will be available. Local performers will have the chance to sing and play at each Wassail as part of the post ceremony celebration. SUMMARY:Winter Concert Torquay
DESCRIPTION:The first of our three Winter Concerts. Tonight we’ll be in Torbay for an evening of great music featuring Torbay Folk Choir\, Singing for Wellness Torbay\, Get Rhythmical and the Folk Orchestra of Torbay.\n\n\n \n\n\nTorbay Folk Choir meet on Tuesday evenings in Torquay and everyone is welcome. There is no experience necessary and their leader Sarah Owen makes sure all members feel able to join in in a way that feels comfy for them. They sing folk songs from England and around the world\, usually in three-part harmony.\n\n\n \n\n\nSinging for Wellness Torbay meet on Thursday lunch times in Torquay. The group is for anyone with a respiratory condition who wants to try singing. They opt for a mixture of folk songs and well known songs – and often encourage their audiences to sing along. They are led by Jon Dyer who receives training from a respiratory physiotherapist from University of Plymouth.\n\n\n \n\n\nGet Rhythmical is a partnership with Torbay Virtual School. Led by Paul Wilson with Jenny Read\, this after school club for children living with foster families explores all kinds of music and different instruments to inspire an interest in making music.\n\n\n \n\n\nFolk Orchestra of Torbay meets on Thursday evenings in Paignton and anyone who plays an acoustic instrument is welcome along. The leader Jon Dyer helps group members improve their playing together to prepare for ceilidhs and concerts – just like tonight’s!\n\n\n \n\n\nMembers from these groups will be hosting a craft stall selling homemade items that are perfect for gifting at Christmas.\n\n\n \n\n\nExpect joy and cheer\, great music and warm drinks. And last but not least\, the most wonderful hamper is available to win in the raffle!\n\n\n \n\n\nYou can choose your ticket price: £5\, £10 or £15. All proceeds go towards Wren Music’s charitable work.
