Peggy Seeger in conversation

Saturday 27 April @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Church Hall, 4 Market Street, Okehampton, EX20 1HN

We are delighted to announce that our patron, legendary folk singer Peggy Seeger, will be appearing in a very special event in Okehampton in April.

‘Peggy Seeger in Conversation’ is at Church Hall in Market Street, Okehampton, on Saturday 27 April (7.30pm). Hosted by our creative director, Marilyn Tucker, it promises to be an evening of insightful conversation with a unique artist who has carved a special place in the folk music of both her native USA, and the UK, which she has made her home.

Come to hear Peggy talk about her formative years and her experiences in a musically rich family – she comes from a famous American folk dynasty, which includes her mother, Ruth Crawford Seeger, her father, Charles Seeger, her brother Mike Seeger, and her half-brother Pete Seeger. Peggy will also be discussing her many collaborations with major figures in the folk scene.

As a pivotal figure in the folk revival movements, her contributions have shaped the genre and inspired countless artists. But Peggy’s story isn’t just about music; it’s also about passion, resilience, and the enduring impact of a life dedicated to artistic and social expression.

Doors open at 7pm, the event will start at 7.30pm. There will be a short interval halfway through (around 8.15pm) with a bar and light refreshments available. The event will finish between 9.30 and 9.45pm.
