Okehampton Lanterns Procession 2022

March 26 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Simmons Park & Car Park, Okehampton, EX20 1PW
The Okehampton Lanterns Procession is an annual project mixing folklore with imagery and music. It celebrates the coming of spring and goodbye to the dark evenings.

Huge spectacular lanterns will be paraded to light up the darkness in Simmons Park. These works of art will be accompanied by music and a parade of community pyramid lanterns lit from the inside and creating a magical glow.

Launched in 2011, this project is now a firm family favourite in the town with opportunities for all ages to come together.

The pandemic of 2020 caused us to pause the project on the eve of the procession so we are so excited to be able to return now!

Open workshops will take place on Saturdays 12 and 19 March for you to make your own lantern to join the procession! Check out our What’s On page for the details of these.

Those taking place in the procession will need to arrive by 6.00pm and details of a meeting place will be shared with you.

Please note the Book Here button does not lead anywhere, as no booking is required!

Okehampton Lanterns 2022 is co funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and supported by Okehampton United Charites and The Rotary Club.
