Whilst we face Covid-19 restrictions there are some changes to the way we work with communities. Please read on for more information. We can still continue much of our work and attend in person, including with schools. All our adult music groups will continue in an online space until restrictions lift. We can’t wait to see and hear you very soon!
Under current restrictions, our adult groups cannot meet in person. We expect to resume sessions as advertised in September 2021 for our autumn term. In the meantime, our groups continue online!
Our easy to navigate online community provides you with on-demand weekly recorded teaching videos. Musicians record a warm-up and preparation video, and you’ll learn two or three songs or tunes each week/month. There are also musical scores, lyric sheets and sound files to download. Live sessions happen over Zoom, either weekly or monthly depending on how often the group would normally meet. Join your music leader and the group to play, sing, learn and connect.

Our monthly groups may resume rehearsals in person in June and July 2021. We are also planning individual in-person events during summer 2021 for all those in our choirs and orchestras. We expect these to happen once all restrictions are lifted and they will be advertised in due course.
We understand members of the Singing For Wellness choir are sometimes more vulnerable. We will continue to offer regular online sessions for this choir until it safe and enjoyable for everyone to attend in person. We hope this will be from September 2021. You can join the choir online by contacting us.
The ensemble will launch in September 2021. For the remaining academic year, we will continue our current offering, ‘Roots Youth Group’. They meet for two hours on the third Sunday of the month at the Cygnet Theatre in Exeter. These sessions will happen in person in May, June and July 2021. Covid-secure practices are in place and we have successfully run these sessions with young people over the last year when restrictions allowed.
Young people are invited to attend these sessions in advance of joining the Youth Ensemble in the autumn. Contact us for full information of timings.
We are inviting schools to make bookings to work with Wren Music at any time. We are available to attend your school for this summer term 2021. We have a risk assessment and covid secure practices in place.
We are inviting care homes to make future bookings to work with Wren Music. We will be happy to attend in person as soon as restrictions allow. We have a risk assessment and covid secure practices.
We are happy to discuss community projects and how we can deliver them either now or in the future. We are in a position to deliver online where needed, so there is no need to wait to discuss your requirements.
At the time of writing (May 2021), we are able to run our instrument picnics as advertised. A maximum of 15 adults will be able to attend per session so pre-booking is required. We have Covid secure practices in place including sanitising, and adults are required to wear face masks.
The procession will return bigger and better in 2022! Lanterns made in 2020 have been kept safely in storage and we’ll be inviting people to make more when we re-launch the project in early 2022.
We plan to run our Folk Festival in Okehampton town in person from Friday 22 – Sunday 24 October 2021. See you there! (If we are unable to run the event in person, a provision will be in place to move the event online).
