East Devon Folk Choir is open to anyone who loves to sing and is a truly welcoming and friendly group.  For adults (16 and up), taking part doesn’t require any auditions and you don’t need to read music (although music is provided for those who like).

Our approach to folk music is broad and incorporates songs from around the world as well as those from here in Devon, and also new, more contemporary folk in addition to traditional song.   You can expect to learn useful vocal techniques to improve your voice, achieve stunning harmonies in 2, 3, 4 – or sometimes more! – parts, and learn a wide range of beautiful new songs, as well as honing your performance skills for our termly showcase concerts.

Led by experience vocal leader, Sarah Owen, East Devon Folk Choir prides itself on striving for an excellent sound whilst remaining positively accessible for all.  Beginners are always welcome, as are those who have more experience, and the supportive ethos of the group means that everyone helps each other out!

Sessions are fun and social as well as covering a great deal of musical ground and giving your voices a good work out; with a well-deserved tea break half way through.  Anyone who would like to come and try the choir, to see if it is what they are looking for, is invited for a free taster session at any time.
